It\u2019s been a genuine pleasure to have been part of Rob Camm\u2019s life<\/a> for nearly ten years now, and an even greater pleasure to announce that he\u2019s agreed to join our Board of Trustees.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rob was recently named Law Student of the Year<\/a> at the 2022 Bristol Law Society Awards after qualifying as a solicitor in April this year. His legal experience and work in championing the inclusion of individuals with disability and long-term health conditions will be invaluable in helping us to shape the future direction of the charity.<\/p>\n

In addition to his role as a SpecialEffect Trustee, Rob is also the Head Coach of Bristol Bears Wheelchair Rugby Club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We originally met Rob and his family in hospital shortly after he sustained a spinal injury in 2013. Our team introduced him to eye gaze technology which he initially used for communication and online access. We\u2019ve since supported Rob through his rehabilitation, university degree and pathway to work by providing signposting and advice for suitable speech recognition and head movement technology that allows him to control a computer as effectively as possible.<\/p>\n

“SpecialEffect is undoubtedly one of the best things that has happened me,” said Rob. “I can’t imagine where I’d be without their support, so becoming a Trustee and having the opportunity to assist in their work is a real honour.”<\/p>\n
