A massive THANK YOU to all our amazing marathon runners. After the success of last year\u2019s virtual London Marathon, this year\u2019s hybrid event meant SpecialEffect had supporters running the London Marathon all over the country as well as round the iconic route in London itself.<\/p>\n

Luckily for this year\u2019s runners, the weather conditions couldn\u2019t have been more different from last year. The torrential rain experienced last year came and went on the Saturday, leaving perfect weather for the run – and Ed Rumley\u2019s wish after last year, to be able to \u201crun it rather than swim it\u201d was granted!<\/p>\n

Andrew Greensmith (Red Kite Games), Mark Baldwin (New Star Games), Jim Jagger (Rockstar), Andrew Pooley (EA), Ed Rumley (EA), Andy Dunn (First Touch Games), James Pavitt (Sony) and Jordan Cross all took part on the streets of London and got to experience the full London Marathon event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat an atmosphere \u2013 my first London Marathon didn\u2019t disappoint!\u201d said SpecialEffect Ambassador Jim Jagger, who came down from Edinburgh to take part.<\/p>\n

This was his first London Marathon, as it was for many of our runners, with Jordan Cross from our Twin Town crew, \u201csmashing it in his first marathon\u201d and Ryan Bickham and Andrea Martin finding that \u201cperseverance paid off\u201d to get round their chosen virtual routes. Dave Blewett also demonstrated one of the advantages of running the London Marathon virtually \u2013 with his pictures capturing a stunning Yorkshire route that couldn\u2019t be more different to the London one!<\/p>\n

The London Marathon is an extremely challenging event and we are so privileged to have had our biggest team yet, with ten supporters choosing to run the virtual event alongside our eight London runners. Chris Mellor (Aardvark Swift), Ian Goodall (Aardvark Swift), Dave Blewett (Sumo), Ryan Bickham, Andrea Martin, Jonathan Woodhouse, Kelly-Sue Budde (Miniclip), Bob Young, Johnny Carberry, and our very own Nick Streeter (SpecialEffect) all took part and managed to complete the gruelling distance on their own with only family cheering them on.<\/p>\n

A big CONGRATULATIONS to you all! We can\u2019t wait to see pictures of you with your medals, it\u2019s such an incredible achievement and we\u2019re bowled over by your support.<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re interested in running the London Marathon for SpecialEffect in 2022, please get in touch with Ellie<\/a> who can add you to our ballot waiting list. The event will take place in October again, and we have a limited number of places. We will draw our ballot a week after the official London Marathon ballot, so it\u2019s also worth entering their ballot too \u2013 the bigger the SpecialEffect team, the better!<\/p>\n
